On behalf of our client Pellikaan Construction, Sheridan Lifts are currently on site working at the brand new £14m Bulmershe Leisure Centre, where the former centre was demolished along with the pool (following the discovery of asbestos) to make way for this exciting new facility.
Located on Woodlands Avenue in Woodley, the new centre will boast a 25-metre swimming pool, large gymnasium, a four-court sports hall, studio and café. Flexible facilities and preventative health services will also operate from the premises. Once opened it will be run by Places for People Leisure.
Commenting on the development, Gert-Jan Peeters, director at Pellikaan said “We are looking forward to working with Wokingham Borough Council to provide this new leisure centre for the community”
Sheridan Lifts have enjoyed a close working relationship with Pellikaan over the years and were delighted to be selected for the installation of two, eight-person passenger lifts on site here. As with many of our lift installation projects, we have sourced the lifts from our supplier Kleemann Lifts in Greece and we are currently making good progress on site, with photos of the new lifts to follow in a later post.
Commenting on the new leisure centre, Councillor Norman Jorgensen, who is the executive member for environment, leisure and libraries summarises:
“This new centre won’t just be a hub for sports – a place to improve or maintain your health. It will be a community focus for people in Woodley of all ages and sporting abilities to enjoy, and socialise, as well as somewhere to go for help to avoid health issues becoming a problem in the first place.”
We are delighted to be able to play a significant part in the process and help to ensure a better standard of facility for the people of Woodley and the surrounding area.
